4 Signs telling you it’s time to replace your water heater
The water heater is no longer considered a luxury but a necessity of modern living. You will find most homes fitted with a water heater. Like with all gadgets, they too need replacement after a period of time due to wear and tear. Let us explore some signs that indicate that the water heater replacement is due.
1. Water leaks and moisture
Water leakage is one of the most common and irritating problems in the water heaters because even the smallest of leaks can lead to a major problematic situation. Whether the leakage is due to rust, damage, furnace drain line, high pressure, gas control valve or any other reason, water tank heaters can spring a leak due to a variety of reasons. You need to check your tank regularly for leaks and stop it at the earliest.
2. Rusty water
Rusty water is a common issue that people find in storage water heaters. When the water shows a rusty colour, it indicates that the problem is directly linked to the tank and when the water sits against the metal, the tank begins to rust over time. Once it starts to rust, it is high time to switch to a better-quality water heater as it can also lead to a major leakage issue. Also, to make your water heater last longer, check and replace the anode rod regularly. Anode rod attracts the corrosive elements in the water and gradually rusts the same.

3. Not enough hot water
If the water is not heating to the level it previously used to or the level you require, then there are chances that the thermostat in the water heater may have been damaged or improperly seated. You can easily fix the issue by resetting the thermostat to its appropriate temperature. Doing it yourself can be dangerous if you are not familiar with the requirement or contact a professional. It could also indicate, the need to buy a better-quality water heater.
4. Rumbling noises and rotten egg smell
When a water heater gets old or is of a sub-standard quality, you may notice bothersome noises coming out of the water heater which can be caused by sediments (build-up of dirt on the heating elements). The sediments occasionally break into pieces, which flows around making sound in the water heater. The issue of rumbling noises can even lead to low water pressure and creates a rotten egg smell.
