4 Things to check before selecting the right water heater for your home

Seldom do we appreciate the importance of little things in life, like a hot water shower!

Water Heaters/Geysers are one of the most important electrical equipment in a household & hence selecting the right one is even more imperative.

Like everything else in the modern day & time, even water geysers/heaters have a lot of options. There are traditional water heaters, big on size & power consumption whereas there are modern heaters also available today which are energy-efficient & produce hot water as per the need.

When it comes to instant water heaters available today, there is quite a range to choose from. However, picking the right one is essential if you want it to meet all your needs.

Here are some of the things you should look for when buying a water heater for your home.

Interiors & Aesthetics

In the modern day, interiors play an important role in any household, hence it is imperative to select a water heater which not only fulfils its functionality efficiently but also adds to the aesthetics of the house. Brands today provide ample designer options that can fulfil both the objectives.

Storage Capacity

If you have more than two people in your home, it is important to have the right size water heater which can store enough water. Ideally, a water heater with a 25 to 30 litres in storage capacity is good for a household of 4 people.

Another important feature in water heaters is functionality. Ensure that the one you choose is easy to use and offers instant heating. Some water heaters also come with a heating indicator – in the form of LED lights – that change colour to indicate when the water is hot and ready for use.

Tank or Tankless Water Heaters?

Tank Water Heaters come in two variants – gas or electric. The tank is insulated to help keep the inner water warm, and a thermostat to control the overall temperature of the water. Tankless Water Heaters are comfortable, energy-efficient and convenient. They can provide endless supply of hot water as per one’s need. One must choose as per their own needs.

Energy Efficiency

To maximise your energy and cost savings, you want to know how energy-efficient a water heater is before you purchase it.

The new tankless models are much more energy-efficient than their traditional counterparts. A tankless water heater heats water only at the time it is being used. Therefore, the energy is consumed only at the time when the heater is on. On the other hand, in the traditional water heater setup, water is stored in a large tank. When the water in the tank cools off, the fuel kicks in and heats it up again. An energy-efficient water heater saves your money on electricity bill every month.
