Importance of Fire Resistant Wires in Homes:

Is your home a truly happy place without proper safety? Safety is one of the primary factors to consider while buying or making a home. Safety comes from good electrical wiring, because this is one factor which, if ignored, can cause life-threatening incidents.

Well insulated, fire resistant electrical cables must be used to install power and electrical systems. Such cables are shockproof and can maintain uninterrupted and reliable delivery of current. Therefore, you cannot compromise on the quality of wires and cables used during installation of electrical system in a house.

Copper wires are always the best:

Good quality cables that are fire resistant have high tensile strength and are extremely resistant to high temperatures. Copper wires are generally used for house wiring and you must ensure that high quality copper wires are used. If there are any impurities in the copper, there is a high probability of short circuits caused by overheating.

Quality cables made to combat fire:

Fire is a major cause for the loss of human lives and property thus; fire safety is a major focus area for most good brands of wires and cables to focus on. To understand this better, you must learn a little about wires and cables. Cables are insulated with organic polymeric compounds. These compounds are halogenated products containing Chlorine, Bromine and Fluorine. When the wires are exposed to heat, the insulation starts to decompose, releasing dense toxic smoke which causes asphyxia and impairs vision. To address this issue, cable manufacturers have introduced different varieties of fire resistant cables. They are FR (Fire Retardant) cables, Fire Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) cables, Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cables and Fire Survival (FS) cables. It is always advisable to use these types of wires in the home.

Wire and cable manufacturers have also become careful about maintaining national and international standards. They use good quality fire retardant materials for insulating the wires.
